Matthew 15:14
“Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

When I lived a life of sin, I thought to yield to Him would remove the fun in my life, so I would tell myself: “I will just wait and submit when I’m older.” To my surprise, that was not a part of God’s plan, so He got me early, but once I surrendered, I learned the truth about God. God is the creator of all things including laughter, fun, love, intimacy, peace, and so much more. If I had to list them all, I would not have enough pages to write. So, if God invented these things, why would they stop once I surrender to Him? The truth is, these things don’t stop existing, but they are now experienced in a purer way. Satan has manipulated people into thinking he and sin are fun, while God and righteousness are boring. If that is the case, then I guess STDs from promiscuous fornication is fun. When you choose to live a life of sin there are always negative consequences, but with God there is none. This is why, with God, there is an advantage.
As a born-again young woman who has surrendered to Christ, I now notice all the benefits and advantages I have due to my decision to choose Him. When I see individuals that have not made the choice to surrender to the Father, I see the detriment that sin is doing to their soul. I do not envy their “freedom” to party day and night or live a promiscuous lifestyle. Instead, I hurt for them because I see that they are blind. This understanding gives me patience in ministry when I am dealing with sinners because I realize I have an advantage over them.
I know things they don’t know, I understand things they don’t, and I see things they just cannot see. That is my advantage in God. For example, a woman may envy another woman who seems happily married with the perfect husband. I, on the other hand, will not envy her even though I am not married yet because I know that my God has a plan. Anything He blesses me with is the best for me. There is no point in envying this woman because what God gave her is hers and suits her. What God will give me will be mine and will be suitable for me.
When you surrender to God, He provides you with this type of understanding. You will have a God-given advantage. Jesus made it very clear that the blind leading the blind end up in a ditch (Matthew 15:14). With God, you will not be blind. If you’re living in a world full of blind people, will you not have an advantage? Of course, you will.
I find it silly that in my past, I wanted to do what everyone else did. I lived my life for their approval when ninety-five percent of them were blind and did not know their right from their left. In my mind, now that I am no longer blind, this makes no sense to me. Even when I was a sinner I knew in my heart that it was pointless to live for the world’s approval. I just didn’t know or understand the right way. With the Father, not only do you recognize right from wrong; but also you get to know what is right and who is right. Without surrendering to Him and renewing your mind (Romans 12.1-2), you will still be blind without an understanding of who is right even if you know what is wrong.
There is only one Way and one Truth, and that is Jesus. Once you know this, you have the advantage. I do recognize that there are counterfeits such as Muhammad, Buddha, etc. The difference is the True One is alive and interacts with us. It is never a one-way relationship with the Truth. Again this is another advantage in God.
These are just a few benefits of giving your life to the true living God. However, there are so many benefits. A book may not be able to contain them all, except the Bible. This journal entry should help simplify some of them for now. Overall, I just want you to understand that surrendering to God will only benefit your life. Surrendering to God is choosing to join the winning team. No man in God’s Kingdom is a loser, even the ones that have died for Him. They died in glory. Everything about Him is so glorious and so powerful that even being in His presence will guarantee those aspects will stick to you. That is the advantage in God.
Lord. Thank you! Amen
The Advantage in God
As a born-again Christian that has surrendered their life to Jesus, you have a God-given advantage in life. So many people think that being a Christian is God’s way of chaining them down and removing their freedom. Though in all reality, submitting to God gives freedom: Real freedom. The wages of sin is death, so living a life of sin bounds you to death and everything that comes with it. The rules and commandments of God are not to control you, but to ensure that you experience His best. Sin leads to sickness, misery, disease, and much more while surrendering to God gives you peace, love, and everlasting life. For this reason, alone surrendering to God gives you an advantage.
When I lived a life of sin, I thought to yield to Him would remove the fun in my life, so I would tell myself: “I will just wait and submit when I’m older.” To my surprise, that was not a part of God’s plan, so He got me early, but once I surrendered, I learned the truth about God.
